In this example-rich session, photographers and multimedia journalists Erin Siegal McIntyre (Joan Cook Fellow 2010) and Carrie Ching will share how they approach storytelling with their cameras, microphones, pencils, pads, eyes and ears. By examining stunning audio-visual collaborations (and some disasters), this session will deliver inspiration as well as a set of tips, tricks and best practices for making multimedia projects beyond the typical “audio slideshow.” Erin Siegal McIntyre is a radio producer, Redux-represented photographer and author of the award-winning book Finding Fernanda about international adoption fraud. Award-winning multimedia journalist Carrie Ching recently left her position as multimedia director at the Center for Investigative Reporting. Moderator Lauren M. Whaley is the multimedia journalist at the CHCF Center for Health Reporting, where she juggles wires for her radio equipment, cameras and phones.
