Lori Robinson

An award-winning journalist with nearly 20 years of experience in traditional and digital media, Lori S. Robinson thrives on finding and telling compelling stories about people and issues that others overlook. She was selected as a 2013 Fellow for the Tow-Knight Entrepreneurial Journalism Program at CUNY’s Graduate School of Journalism. She has excelled in various roles, including, editor, reporter, public speaker, radio contributor, web publisher and author.

 Previously, she served as editor of BLAC Detroit, a local lifestyle magazine, for nearly four years. Early in her career, she was an associate editor at Emerge, a national African American news magazine, in Washington, D.C. Her freelance work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, Detroit Free Press and several national magazines.

A rape survivor, Robinson is the author of “I Will Survive: The African-American Guide to Healing from Sexual Assault and Abuse” (Seal Press, 2003). She has spoken about sexual violence across the country and abroad.

Adventurous and tenacious, she has traveled to 18 countries, transformed personal tragedy into triumph, and continues to seek opportunities to evolve in an ever-changing industry and global environment.
